  • Sample Prep

KingFisher Apex is a versatile and user-friendly instrument which uses magnetic particle processing to automate the purification or isolation of DNA, RNA, proteins, and cells from virtually any source. The Apex moves magnetic beads not liquids through the main steps of sample preparation -- bind, wash, elute. This process provides excellent quality, reproducible results, and reduces hands-on time for sample processing.

What is NGS ?

NGS, short for"Next-Generation Sequencing," refers to the modern DNA and RNAsequencing technology that generates high efficiency and massive amounts ofdata. It represents a significant advancement from previous sequencingtechnologies such as Sanger sequencing, offering faster, more economicalmethods and enabling large-scale parallel sequencing. NGS is widely used inhigh-throughput genome analysis and genomics research.
Sequencing is theprocess of determining the order of nucleotides or amino acids in biologicalmolecules such as genes, DNA, RNA, or proteins. It serves as a vital tool ingenomics and biological research, contributing to understanding variousbiological processes and elucidating the mechanisms of diseases. Several sequencingtechnologies are commonly used, with Sanger sequencing and Next-GenerationSequencing (NGS) being among the most notable. Sanger sequencing:Developed in 1977, this method remains one of the essential sequencingtechniques. It involves generating a sequence by using dideoxynucleotides(ddNTPs) randomly inserted during DNA replication, and determining the sequencebased on their sizes. Next-GenerationSequencing (NGS): NGS is a technology that can process data much faster and inlarger volumes than Sanger sequencing. It is utilized on various platforms, each with its principles and characteristics. Sequencingfinds applications in various fields, providing crucial information in genomicsanalysis, disease research, evolutionary biology, personalized medicine, biodiversity studies, food safety, and more.
